Finding the way to happiness is a lifelong pursuit. Happiness comes and goes, but the blessings of God always remain; they are ever-present.

Take time now to learn the pathway of blessedness that leads to the very presence of God, the source of all joy.

Listen

"But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep."

Luke 6:24-25

Think

A friend of mine recently asked me what I thought the word “justice” means. I told him that when I think of justice, I think of balancing the scales in life. Those who don’t have much will be given much. Those who are hungry and thirsty and tired will be given rest. Those who have been kept out will be given a royal homecoming into God’s Kingdom.

Jesus teaches that actions for the poor and outcast are only half of the equation. In order for the scales to balance towards justice, those who have much will have to change as well. In the Kingdom of God those of us who have money, who have food, who laugh often can no longer look at a world in poverty, a world that is hungry, a world that is broken, and remain unchanged. We too are asked to give generously to the Kingdom of God and find happiness in Jesus’ ministry of transformation.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice.” What action will you take today that helps bend the arc of the universe towards justice and to the Kingdom of God?

Pray

God of justice, you have shown me what you require. Because I have been given so much, help me now to freely give. May I be transformed and see the world differently today. Amen.

Go

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love.
