And let us consider each other carefully for the purpose of sparking love and good deeds. Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near.

Think

The life I live in God is not one I live alone. My entire life is the result of many people loving and caring for me until this moment. Life takes form through relationship. Learning, growing, and living all happen because of others. As I walk forward in this day and each new day, I do so empowered by the efforts of others.

People are difficult too. People can be hurtful, frustrating, and mean. It is easy to turn others away. It is easy to run from community. But God’s love calls us to a higher way. Whenever there is difficulty, learn from it, grow in it — and let love pour through. God redeems even the hardest of hearts, even the toughest relationships.

Gracious and merciful God, lead me and us —your people — through your love. Draw us to one another as we draw closer to you in community. Lead us together along right paths. Amen.
