We are constantly praying for you for this: that our God will make you worthy of his calling and accomplish every good desire and faithful work by his power. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored by you, and you will be honored by him, consistent with the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Think

In 5th grade my friend and I ran for Student Council: she for Vice President and I for Treasurer. We made posters with glitter and wrote our speeches weeks in advance. At recess we took turns practicing from the top of the slide, while the other one stood below and gave tips.

When the big day came, we each addressed hundreds of students in the gym. We were not exceptionally popular or athletic or good-looking. But later that day the principal announced that we had both won.

While I gave that speech, I was surprised to see my dad, who’d taken off work, beaming at me from the back row. He later said how proud he was of me, and helped me know even at the age of 10 that I was called to speak about things that matter.

What comes easy to you? What is it you were born to do, the gift uniquely yours that could make the world a better place? Can you picture your heavenly parent in the back row, smiling? That’s calling.

Pray

Dear God,
Make me worthy of your calling.
Accomplish every good desire in me,
and faithfully work in me by your power.
I want the name of Jesus Christ honored in me,
and me honored in you.
By the grace of God,
Amen.

The question is not whether God has called you.

The question is how and where and whether you will say “yes.”

Go into this day brave.
Go into this day believing.
Go into this day knowing
that you are already enough.
