Pause

We are never alone. Our lives are knit together with those around us. What we do has the power to affect others. And God is present and active in our relationships and in our very being.

God is with you. Breathe deep the reality of God’s presence. Remember. Realize. God is with you.

Listen

The Lord said to me: What they’ve said is right. I’ll raise up a prophet for them from among their fellow Israelites—one just like you. I’ll put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. I myself will hold accountable anyone who doesn’t listen to my words, which that prophet will speak in my name. However, any prophet who arrogantly speaks a word in my name that I haven’t commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods—that prophet must die.

Deuteronomy 18:17-20

Think

Do you think about yourself as being a prophet? Do you think your life and words tell people something about who God is and what God desires in the world?

The fact of the matter is, if someone knows you are a person of faith, they will look at how you live and what you have to say. They will draw conclusions about your faith, your faith community, and even about God based on what they observe. We each act as prophets, people who share in speaking the message of God into the world. So what are your life, your actions, your words and language saying?

Spend some time today thinking about what people hear and see in you. How can you help them to know the love of God more clearly?

Pray

God, my life doesn’t always speak your love so clearly, and I know I need your help. Forgive me when I have missed the mark, and help me to make you and your love more fully known. Amen.
