Ordinary Time

Pause

We are never alone. Our lives are knit together with those around us. What we do has the power to affect others. And God is present and active in our relationships and in our very being.

God is with you. Breathe deep the reality of God’s presence. Remember. Realize. God is with you.

Listen

Praise the Lord! I thank the Lord with all my heart in the company of those who do right, in the congregation. The works of the Lord are magnificent; they are treasured by all who desire them. God’s deeds are majestic and glorious. God’s righteousness stands forever. God is famous for his wondrous works. The Lord is full of mercy and compassion. God gives food to those who honor him. God remembers his covenant forever. God proclaimed his powerful deeds to his people and gave them what had belonged to other nations.

Psalm 111:1-6

Think

“Praise the Lord!” So much of the time in our culture today, we are all about praising individuals. We celebrate the good they have done and the change they have made in the world. But in doing so, we often miss the point of why they do what they do. We praise them, and forget to praise God for working in and through them. We see what is on the outside and we miss what lies a little bit deeper, just beyond the surface.

As people of faith, we are invited to look for God in each other. We are invited to see and celebrate God’s action in the lives of others and even in our own lives. How do you praise God for the work God does in the lives of others or in your own life? Take time to praise the Lord for the work God is doing in your life and those around you.
