Ordinary Time

Pause

Child of God, you are called to a grand adventure.

Child of God, there is peace in this journey.

Listen

I believe that the present suffering is nothing compared to the coming glory that is going to be revealed to us. The whole creation waits breathless with anticipation for the revelation of God’s sons and daughters. Creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice—it was the choice of the one who subjected it—but in the hope that the creation itself will be set free from slavery to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of God’s children.

Romans 8:18-21

Think

Being a Christian in today’s world is hard. We feel distracted, overworked, tempted, and irrelevant. Our hearts and minds are pulled in so many different directions. Each day brings more work, more decisions, and more responsibility. Sabbath and rest time seem nonexistent. Seeing God in the midst of the muck can feel downright impossible.

Today’s scripture reminds us that there is a better life waiting for us. The things that we worry about today are nothing compared to the glory that God has in store for God’s children. We can choose to be distracted by the small frustrations of everyday life, or we can choose to focus on God. When we focus on God, we move past the mundane and experience the marvelous.
