Ordinary Time

Pause

Child of God, you are called to a grand adventure.

Child of God, there is peace in this journey.

Listen

We were saved in hope. If we see what we hope for, that isn’t hope. Who hopes for what they already see? But if we hope for what we don’t see, we wait for it with patience.

Romans 8:24-25

Think

When I was a kid, I thought being a teenager would be awesome. I would get to go to school dances and drive a car. When I was a teenager, I couldn’t wait to move out of my parents house and be in charge of my own life. When I was in college, I envisioned the real world as vacations and a world-changing career. As an adult, I still wait and envision and hope for the next stage in life. Waiting is hard, and we find ourselves asking, “what’s next?”

It is okay to look forward to the future and ask “what’s next?”, but we need to ask God instead of just ourselves. Waiting for God’s timing can be difficult. God’s plan may not be our plan. And God’s plan for us is not a one-time thing. There will not be a moment in our life where we have it all, because God’s work is never done. And so we wait with patience not for the milestones of the world but for the plans that God has for our lives.
