Listen

All of you who are thirsty, come to the water! Whoever has no money, come, buy food and eat! Without money, at no cost, buy wine and milk! Why spend money for what isn’t food, and your earnings for what doesn’t satisfy? Listen carefully to me and eat what is good; enjoy the richest of feasts.

Think

We are invited by a loving God to a feast which surpasses all the worldly limitations and expectations we place upon it. Our God sets an abundant table where there is water enough for all who thirst. Not only is there food in abundance but also the kind that truly nourishes and sustains us. God asks no price and offers this feast freely to anyone who responds to the invitation.

The truth is that none of us can repay God for the blessings we receive, not even the richest among us. Thankfully, God is a gracious Giver who desires our presence at the feast more than our payment. Relieved of the obligation, we are free to sit in our Lord’s presence to learn how we can best love God and our neighbor.
