Pause

It’s getting closer—and now closer. Moments follow moments until you reach the moment—the here and now.

No matter what comes before and regardless of what follows, God is always there, always in the present. No matter when. No matter where.

God is with you—here and now. Open your heart to know God better.

Listen

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God. Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, so that they may be saved.

1 Corinthians 10:31–33

Think

Consider the cafeteria. You may or may not choose to eat there today, but chances are you have entered it at some point in your life. You have lots of choices to make in the cafeteria: what to eat, where to sit, who to sit with, what to talk about, and whether you should use this time to finish an assignment or cram for a test instead of eating.

Do your choices glorify God? Does the food you choose glorify God? Does the way you treat the food service workers, your friends, and the other students around your table glorify God?

Pray

God of Glory, I want to honor you with my daily choices. I want my life to glorify you. Open my eyes to the way I treat people, and open my heart to the way you would have me treat them. Amen.

Go

Even while the seconds go ticking by,
Even as days pass, one and then the other,
Every moment is but a beginning.

Go into the moments ahead
Alert to the never ending promise
That every instant is inhabited
By divine companionship.
