It’s getting closer—and now closer. Moments follow moments until you reach the moment—the here and now.
No matter what comes before and regardless of what follows, God is always there, always in the present. No matter when. No matter where.
God is with you—here and now. Open your heart to know God better.next >
Our steps are made firm by the Lord, when he delights in our way;
though we stumble, we shall not fall headlong, for the Lord holds us by the hand.
Psalm 37:23–24next >
We stumble. It’s inevitable. We make bad choices. We hurt a friend’s feelings; we do poorly on a test we should have studied for; we go to a party we know we shouldn’t attend. We act in ways that run counter to God’s plan for our lives. Nobody is a perfect disciple.
Thankfully, God has us by the hand. When we stumble, God is right there beside us. We are never abandoned, never left alone, never given up on. There is nothing we can do that will make God let go of us. There is nothing we can do that will make God stop loving us.

Loving God, thank you for holding my hand. Thank you for being there when I stumble. Help me back on my feet, so that I can walk with you for the rest of my life. Amen.next >
Even while the seconds go ticking by,
Even as days pass, one and then the other,
Every moment is but a beginning.
Go into the moments ahead
Alert to the never ending promise
That every instant is inhabited
By divine companionship.
