Pause

It's always nice to go to a place where you feel comfortable and at home. But it's another thing to leave a sense of well-being and venture into the unknown.

Jesus calls us to be with him, but his call is also to go, to move into areas that are unfamiliar and even foreboding.

Still, it is good to remember that Jesus' promise is to be with us no matter where we roam. That promise holds for you now.

Listen

"But whenever you enter a town and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off in protest against you. Yet know this: the kingdom of God has come near.'"

Luke 10:10-11

Think

Shake the dirt off! The reality is that we are not all welcomed and we surely are not all accepted. But that should not and does not hinder us from doing the task set before us. Jesus gave the 70 a message to share with everyone, but he did not expect them to always be successful.

We come to Christ to be sent out; and whether times are good or bad, happy or sad, we must continue on our way, tending to the harvest. As we live in a world that is filled with unwelcoming people, we must not get bogged down, but we must become filled with hope for the journey.

Timothy Peoples

Pray

Lord, no matter what comes my way, give me strength to share your message with those who do and those who do not accept me. Remind me that it is not about me, but all for you. Amen.

Go

Go.

Go where you are needed.

Go where you will find God –
In the eyes and
In the faces
Of God's beloved ones.

This is where you are being sent.

This is where you will find your work and,
Eventually,
Where you will find yourself again at home.
