Ordinary Time

Pause

“In God alone my soul can find rest and peace.
In God my peace and joy.
Only in God my soul can find its rest.
Find its rest and peace.”

Taizé chant

Listen

Give to the Lord, all families of the nations— give to the Lord glory and power! Give to the Lord the glory due his name! Bring gifts! Enter his courtyards! Bow down to the Lord in his holy splendor! Tremble before him, all the earth!

Tell the nations, “The Lord rules! Yes, he set the world firmly in place; it won’t be shaken. He will judge all people fairly.”

Psalm 96:7-10

Think

My beautiful wife is a priest, and each Sunday before the offertory she reminds the congregation not only to consider making a financial gift to the ministry of the church, but to remember that our entire lives are meant to be offered as a gift to God. She encourages us to think so much bigger than whether or not we tithe, pledge, or put a few dollars in the plate the ushers are passing around.

All that we have and all that we are comes from God. Our resources, strengths, talents, skills, and passions. How can you make your life a gift to God? How can you give back what has been so freely given to you?

Pray

God, thank you for all that you have given me. Make me more and more aware of the blessings that fill my life. Help me to make my life a gift to you and everyone around me. Amen.

Go

Go in safety, for you cannot go where God is not.

Go in love, for love alone endures.

And go in peace, for that is God’s gift to those who are in Christ Jesus.
