Following the Star

Pause

You are being called to journey, and no journey is easy.

Don’t be afraid for this is one you don’t walk alone.

Take a deep breath and get ready… your journey awaits.

Listen

Let the kings of Tarshish and the islands bring tribute; let the kings of Sheba and Seba present gifts. Let all the kings bow down before him; let all the nations serve him. Let it be so, because he delivers the needy who cry out, the poor, and those who have no helper. He has compassion on the weak and the needy; he saves the lives of those who are in need.

Psalm 72:10-13

Think

Growing up I often wondered what it would be like to be a king. What would it be like to have servants, unlimited money, and everything I could possibly want?

In our verses today, the Psalmist describes a king to whom all other kings bow. This king has all of the power they could ever imagine and with this power could change the very direction of the world.

As we journey toward the light of Christ, we are reminded that Christ is this king. Yet we see that he does not desire to bring about a kingdom that hurts, but one that heals. Christ’s is a kingdom where the weak and needy cry out and their cries are answered. He is a king who doesn’t hide in a castle, but gets his hands dirty for the betterment of his people.

As you journey toward Christ, know that he not only hears you when you call, but that he’s also calling you to join him in his work to share his light with those calling out.

Pray

God who hears the needy and weak, help me remember that you hear my cries as well. Help me to know your presence that is with me always and help me to hear your calling to share that presence with those around me. Help me to see the places where your light is needed and take it there. Amen.

Go

Christ is calling you to journey with him, to share his light with the world.

Where will today’s journey lead?
