Ordinary Time

Pause

We fully open our hearts to you, O God, as we give.

Listen

The Lord will rule forever! Zion, your God will rule from one generation to the next! Praise the Lord!

Psalm 146:10

Think

Last night, I gave it my all on the basketball court. It was a great one-on-one game with a friend, where the score went back and forth for the entire game. But the game ended, and I went home to take a shower and go to bed.

So, what is left of the game today? What is left from me giving it my all? Well, smelly clothes, sore muscles, and a promise for a rematch next week. There is also a stronger friendship, which is a blessing, but probably will not be forever.

Yet, let us recall something about God. When we give to God, the result will be forever, for eternity – because God is forever. Do we give to build up the church? Do we give to expand the Kingdom of God? Do we give to draw closer to God? These are gifts that go beyond us. These are gifts that will last forever.

Pray

Lord, thank you for this week. Please use what I give and transform it to something forever. Amen.

Go

Someone once said: “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

Go out today to make your life by giving.

Give love, give joy, give selflessly, give generously.

Give your all.
