Following the Star
This is only the beginning.
God is up to something amazing in you.
Wait for it.
In those days, Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this is what he will be called: The Lord Is Our Righteousness.
Jeremiah 33:16
The best nicknames are ones that show a history, a relationship. Will is not just the nice mail carrier, he’s “Pop.” Margaret is not just that sweet neighbor, she’s “Abuelita.”
During so much tragedy, God says, through the prophet Jeremiah, that “Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety.” Afterwards, the people will call God “The Lord is Our Righteousness.” In one way, God is sharing one of many nicknames. No longer is God only the Lord, generally speaking. Now, God tells the people there will be another name for God, one specifically related to them.
During a very tough time, God tells the people just one of many nicknames because God wants to be close to the people. Today, remember that during our tough times we can trust that God wants to be close to us too. So close, in fact, that we just might call God by a new nickname of our own.

The Lord is My Righteousness, thank you for wanting to be in relationship with people. Please be close to me and to all who are in need today. Amen.
This is not the end.
God is up to something wonderful in the world.
Watch for it.
