Ordinary Time

Pause

Life gets noisy. Sit for a moment in the eye of your storm. Close your eyes. Feel and hear yourself breathe.

Take absolute confidence in one thing — God’s got this.

This moment, this day, this life — God’s got this.

Listen

Come and see God’s deeds; his works for human beings are awesome: He turned the sea into dry land so they could cross the river on foot. Right there we rejoiced in him! God rules with power forever; keeps a good eye on the nations. So don’t let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

Psalm 66:5-7

Think

I have an older friend who is an amazing Christian. This guy lives his faith with every step he takes. He provides for the less fortunate and is about as open as one can be with sharing his personal relationship with Christ. All of this said, my friend recently sent me an email where he honestly expressed his struggles with believing — I bet you have been there. We all have doubts. Our faith story can seem pretty amazing when seen through human eyes.

God is big enough to take on our doubt — doing so is part of God’s work. In fact, that was how I responded to my friend. As we hear in today’s verses, our God, the Designer of awesome miracles, the Creator, Ruler, and Protector extraordinaire, can handle our humanity.

What about your doubts today? Take comfort in knowing our great big God is on your side. God’s got this.

Pray

God of the universe, accept me when I doubt. God of my life, help me to accept and love those in my path. Amen.

Mother Teresa once wrote that we can let God’s grace work in our souls by accepting whatever God gives us and giving whatever God takes from us. She says: “True holiness consists of doing God’s work with a smile.”
