Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. Have you ever felt all alone? Like you were the only one going through something? And then somebody says “me, too.” When this happens to me, my heart relaxes just a little bit, and hope slips in. And when hope settles in, it turns out there’s room for more.
The angel gives Mary someone that can say “me, too” — a companion to share stories with, answer questions, sit with. And Elizabeth isn’t the only one saying “me, too.” Mary can offer those words as well. Today we remember that love is having and being a community.

God, show me the people that can say “me, too” to me to remind me that I am not alone. Show me the people to whom I can say “me, too” so that they know they are not alone. Amen.next >
Go now knowing that you are loved by God. You always have been. You always will be.
Go and share that love with the whole world. Make sure everybody knows.
