Following the Star

Pause

Be still to listen.

Be brave to hear.

Be centered to behold a love too immense for our understanding.

Listen

“He shows mercy to everyone, from one generation to the next, who honors him as God. He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered those with arrogant thoughts and proud inclinations. He has pulled the powerful down from their thrones and lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty-handed.”

Luke 1:50-53

Think

Mary, in listing God’s accomplishments in her song, knows that God’s love stretches for generations and will continue to encompass more. God is love, and all of God’s actions are done in love. Many times we do not understand the extent of God’s love, but know that you — and all people — are created in God’s image. You are not alone in being loved, because God shows mercy to everyone, “from one generation to the next, who honors […] God.” And you are not alone in honoring God.

Build the scaffold of your support system with those who are also loved and love God and neighbor as themselves. Through the people in our lives, we can begin to grasp the great love of God. Any time is always the best time in your life to find those who love you and want to support you, and to support them as you can in turn.

Pray

God, grant me the clarity in sight to see that I am not alone in being loved by you and to see the beauty in that. Help me to find my support system on this earth, so I can feel your love through others too. Amen.

Go

What is the love of God calling you to do?

What is the love for God’s creation calling you to do?

What would you do for the love of the body of God?

Go, to love.
