Pause

God continues to do amazing things for those who realize how valuable they are and seek first the kingdom of God.

Take time now to seek the place where God reigns, beginning in your own heart. Then watch for the amazing things that God causes all around.

Listen

"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?' For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Matthew 6:31-33

Think

What does Jesus mean by striving first for the kingdom of God?

Day by day, how do we do this? Is it simply a morning devotion or an evening writing in a journal? Is it trying to see others through the eyes of Christ? Is it about keeping our faith and works in balance?

Perhaps the antidote for worry is realizing it’s not about us – our image, looks, our “cool.” God knows our needs and wants and knows these things are important to us, but the invitation is to put others first and trust God for the rest.

Maybe the peace of Christ we pass to each other on Sunday morning is a worthy greeting every day!

Pray

Lord, I so often confuse my wants and my needs. Remind me that you are the living bread, the living water and only in you do I find true inner peace. Amen.
