Journey to the Cross

Pause

Peace be with you.

Listen

I will bless the Lord who advises me; even at night I am instructed in the depths of my mind. I always put the Lord in front of me; I will not stumble because he is on my right side. That’s why my heart celebrates and my mood is joyous; yes, my whole body will rest in safety because you won’t abandon my life to the grave; you won’t let your faithful follower see the pit.

You teach me the way of life. In your presence is total celebration. Beautiful things are always in your right hand.

Psalm 16:7-11

Think

Many years ago I learned how to ride a bike in my babysitter’s back yard. The yard had a slight downward grade from the house to the back of the property. I was given a few instructions and sent down the hill. I can’t remember what all was said before that first ride. Brakes and steering were either not a part of the conversation, or I was too excited and didn’t hear them. My first bike ride ended with a tree.

The resurrection life is an exciting and adventurous journey. The psalmist recognizes the Lord’s presence as an instructor, a leader, and an aid. Are you willing to learn how to do new things or understand new concepts? Are you willing to follow the Lord to unknown places? Will you take chances and trust that God is at your side as you go?

Pray

God, teach me what I need to know. Lead me where I need to go. Give me the confidence that comes with having you by my side. Amen.

Go

You might have come here in pieces. Receive the Holy Spirit. Go in peace.
