Pause

From the time we are children, we try to determine when and where safety can be counted on. That doesn't mean we don't take chances, even dangerous ones.

But we can be sure that safety is always found wherever God is. That doesn't mean life isn't dangerous, however.

In a dangerous world, find your safe place now, quietly, in the heart of God.

Listen

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

1 John 5:12-13

Think

One of the world’s great tools is the feature on many computer and smart phone calendars that provides reminders about upcoming events.

“Reminder: Dental Appointment at 3:00 p.m.”

Actually, many of us are glad to “forget” events like that one.

Some reminders are more welcome than others. The writer of today’s Scripture, for instance, reminds us that because we believe in God’s Son, we know that we have eternal life. Maybe you’re one of those believers who welcomes that reminder from time to time.

Today is a good day to remember. Thanks be to God.

Pray

God, I’m grateful that I believe. Help me today to remember that you have given me eternal life, a life of joy, grace, and opportunity. Amen.

Go

There is a place of quiet rest,
Near to the heart of God;
A place where sin cannot molest,
Near to the heart of God.

O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait before you
Near to the heart of God.
