"How can you tell?"

That's a fair question whenever someone makes a prediction of what is going to happen, or even when they give an explanation for what is happening now.

There are signs for those who will see them. Take time now to watch for the signs God has for you.

Listen

God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

Genesis 9:12-17

Think

Every Christmas as my family hangs ornaments on the tree, we take a walk down memory lane. The “Baby’s First Christmas” ornaments, the baked clay person from kindergarten, and the starfish bought during a vacation in Hawaii. One by one, ornament by ornament, we are reminded of our journey together as a family. We are reminded of the love that has bound us, one to another.

God often leaves these reminders for us as well. God spread a rainbow to remind Noah of the promise made, but for you it may be something else. Maybe God reminds you of the promise made through the picture of a loved one that you walk by each morning, maybe a friend who always remembers your birthday; or maybe it’s an afternoon rainstorm that cools the earth. Whatever it may be for you, when those reminders pop up, take a moment to remember and thank God for the love and life that has been promised to you.

Pray

God, may you show me a sign of your love in unexpected ways and let me remember, and live as if it matters. Amen.

Go

Go now with open eyes.
Go now with listening ears.
Make your way with the assurance
That God is leading you.
God is providing the signs you need
To see,
To hear,
To find your way.
