So there is sin. That is our doing, when we are too self-centered to follow God's way.

Salvation. Well, that's God's doing, reaching out through time and space to give us a chance to start again.

Consider now your willfulness. Receive now your salvation.

Listen

But know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.

When you are disturbed, do not sin; ponder it on your beds, and be silent....

I will both lie down and sleep in peace; for you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety.

Psalm 4:3-4, 8

Think

O God, I’m in big trouble, and I don’t know what I’m going to do. Are you listening to me? It’s keeping me up at night. Sometimes I weep and sometimes I’m angry, and sometimes it just feels dark — like I’m in a hole, and the lightness I used to feel when you were with me has gone for good. Mercy, Lord — ease up a little, and set me free from my troubles.

Who told you I left you? I’m always wherever you are. Who told you I stopped listening? Not a word passes through your mind that I don’t hear — yes, even the stuff you hope nobody knows. I hear everything you say to me. I know what you’re going through, and I’m in it with you. Trust me, okay?

I’ll try. I know you’ve helped me so many times. Tonight I’ll try remembering all the times you filled my heart with joy.

Sometimes salvation feels like a good night’s sleep.

Richard Vinson

Pray

O God, help me trust in you. Tonight, and tomorrow. Amen.

Go

There is no falling that can keep you down forever.
There is no shortcoming that can leave you always in debt.
For God has determined to offer salvation
Every day,
Every time,
Every stride,
Every halting step.

Believe, and receive your salvation.
