Let the Lord’s glory last forever! Let the Lord rejoice in all he has made! He has only to look at the earth, and it shakes. God just touches the mountains, and they erupt in smoke.

Think

We began this week’s devotional journey to Pentecost by affirming the movement of God’s Spirit through creation, the song of praise and worship to God. As we continued our journey we were reminded of finding our spiritual strength through God’s Spirit and our willingness to be breathed upon to fulfill the radical vision of God’s kingdom. For the past three days on d365, we have reflected on the importance of the Pentecost experience (the breaking in of the Spirit) and its significance to us and to our churches.

Today in congregations around the world, Pentecost, the birth of the Church, will be celebrated in worship. It is also significant that many congregations will celebrate Eucharist or the Lord’s Supper, giving affirmation and witness to God as the source and giver of life.

If we are vigilant and faithful, if we are willing to see with our eyes and listen with our ears and hearts, we will indeed find God’s Spirit at the center of our lives as well as our communities of faith. Thanks be to God!

God of creation, God of wisdom, God of presence, and God of faithfulness, I give thanks for the presence of your Spirit during my journey. I ask that you continue to stir my heart and mind through the same Spirit that gives life and being. Amen.
