Pause

We struggle from time to time, wondering in the pain of the moment where God might be, wondering if God knows our situation, wondering if God cares.

Then suddenly, as though out of nowhere, our healing comes.

Pause now with anticipation, and with faith in what is possible.

Listen

I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up, and did not let my foes rejoice over me.

O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.

O Lord, you brought up my soul from Sheol, restored me to life from among those gone down to the Pit.

Sing praises to the Lord, O you his faithful ones, and give thanks to his holy name.

For his anger is but for a moment; his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Psalm 30:1-5

Think

May our daily lives embody the gratitude we feel to God for pulling us out of the pit, for healing us, and for hearing our cries. May we never cease to be thankful and praise God’s holy name because we receive God’s undeserved favor for a lifetime. May we constantly sing praises to the Lord, whose anger only lasts for a moment, and who keeps no record of our sins.

May we share the joy of the Lord with those in the pit and testify to the truth that joy will indeed come in the morning. May we embody the hope that tomorrow will come as fresh and pure as the sunrise.

May we live like people who deeply believe that though weeping may last all night in the pit, the joy of the Lord will come in the morning.

Pray

God, I exalt you for bringing me out of the pit and for hearing my cries. Continue to listen to me when I cry, and heal me. Enable me to testify to your goodness and your joy and constantly sing praises to you. I pray in the name of the One who is our greatest joy. Amen.

Go

Go now with anticipation that God may, in the most surprising moment, bring to you the healing you seek, the wholeness you desire. May this be your prayer:

Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved; for you are my praise. (Jeremiah 17:14)
