All of You is more than enough for all of me,

for ev’ry thirst and ev’ry need.

You satisfy me with Your love,

and all I have in You is more than enough.

“Enough” by Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio (2002)

Listen

God gave orders to the skies above, opened heaven’s doors, and rained manna on them so they could eat. He gave them the very grain of heaven! Each person ate the bread of the powerful ones; God sent provisions to satisfy them. God set the east wind moving across the skies and drove the south wind by his strength. He rained meat on them as if it were dust in the air; he rained as many birds as the sand on the seashore! God brought the birds down in the center of their camp, all around their dwellings. So they ate and were completely satisfied; God gave them exactly what they had craved.

Psalm 78:23–29

Think

Generations after crossing the wilderness nourished by manna and quail, the women and men of Israel composed lyrics to commemorate God’s provision. They celebrated what God had done in song. But this song is more than just a memory; the Israelites also used it to teach others, especially their children, about the work of the Lord. The psalmist declares, “we’ll tell the next generation all about the praise due the Lord and his strength – the wondrous works God has done” (v. 4). Psalm 78 does just that, showcasing a mighty God who orders the winds and the portals of heaven to provide enough for God’s people.

How has God provided enough for you? Can you think of a specific instance when God has acted to bring rescue in your life? How do you remember it? And how do you proclaim it to others? Like the psalmist, God calls us to tell all about “the wondrous works God has done.” Perhaps you might even set your testimony to song!

Pray

Lord of all creation, you control the winds of the heavens and birds on the wing, and you are also mindful of my own needs. Thank you for how you have intervened to provide enough for my spirit. I pray that you would give me words – and maybe even melody – to express this satisfaction in you in joyful praise. Amen.

Go

God has the power to provide you with more than enough of every kind of grace. That way, you will have everything you need always and in everything to provide more than enough for every kind of good work.
