What would it be like to see Jesus - really see Jesus - just as he was, and just as he is? Chances are, no matter what our current ideas, if we saw Jesus clearly we would be surprised.
Seeing Jesus clearly is not a matter simply of his physical makeup, but of the character and spirit of who Jesus is.
Take time for another look at Jesus now, and prepare to learn something new about how you see him.
The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt — a covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the Lord. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, “Know the Lord,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more.
Jeremiah 31:31-34
The old question still rings in my ears from youth group days: “Is there anything God can’t do?”
Of course there is nothing God can’t do. God is God and can do everything, knows everything, and is with us all the time. God enables us to see Jesus more clearly.
Yet Jeremiah tells us that God can forget. Huh?! But wait before you get nervous. God forgets our sinful ways and remembers our sins no more! How awesome is that?
God loves us unconditionally, without rules, without limits. In this new promise with God, God forgives our sins and forgets about them.
