Back to School

Pause

No matter how you receive it—email, snail mail, hand-delivered, or face-to-face—there’s nothing like getting an invitation! It means somebody who knows you wants to hang out with you, spend time with you, and get to know you better.

God has an invitation for you as well. It means pretty much the same thing: God wants to spend time with you and wants your relationship to grow.

This invitation comes from within. Take a little time now to accept it.

Listen

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord guards the city, the guard keeps watch in vain.

It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives sleep to his beloved.

Psalm 127:1–2

Think

Wow, you’ve been busy lately, so soon back to school and already so busy. Well, don’t get bogged down in all that you have to do. Instead, focus on the One who is giving you energy and strength.

God invites you to worry less and trust God more. Unless God is in your busy-ness, it ain’t gonna matter anyhow! So, take a deep breath, accept God’s invitation, whisper a prayer of trust in God, and get to work!

Pray

God, I’m so busy today. Thanks for the invitation to worry less and trust you more. I’m gonna try doing that today . . . and maybe tomorrow, too! Amen!
