Ordinary Time

Pause

O God, you will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on you;

for in returning and rest we shall be saved;

in quietness and trust shall be our strength.

So we are always confident, because we know that while we are living in the body, we are away from our home with the Lord. We live by faith and not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:6-7

Think

Can you believe what you see? I think it all depends on the context of where you are looking. If you’re looking online, you might not believe everything you see and hear. If you’re looking at your friends and family, hopefully they are much more believable.

We can’t always see God in the way we see other things. Our scripture reminds us that we live by faith, not by sight. We can still believe in God and trust God, even when it is difficult for us to “see” God.

God understands that we are living in a complex world and trying to live according to God’s ways, even though this is sometimes hard. We can be confident in the faith that we have in God and that God has in us. Yes, God has faith in you! Let’s hold onto our faith in God and be thankful for God’s faith in us as we navigate the complexities of our lives.

Question to Ponder:

What gives you confidence?

Pray

Lord, thank you for having faith in me; let me have faith in myself as one of your children.

Amen.

Go

May the peace of God reign in this place

and the love of God forever hold you tight.

May the Spirit of God flow through your life

and the joy of God uphold you day and night.
