Pause

There is much that brings us comfort in our faith. It is encouraging to know that God is near.

But there is much about faith that is demanding too. We can’t simply “sleepwalk” through life, believing that God is only caring.

In these next moments, consider what God really and truly wants you to be and wants you to do.

Listen

“And if anyone wants to sue you and take your coat, give your cloak as well; and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go also the second mile. Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.”

Matthew 5:40-42

Think

Can you imagine a Superbowl party without a way to watch the game? Can you imagine a dinner party without any food on the table? Can you imagine a dance party with no music or space to dance?

Can you imagine a party for God without loving others?

It’s impossible.

Jesus tells us that love is more important than winning or having revenge. Our faith demands that we love instead of fight. Our faith demands that we give instead of hoard.

Life is meant to be a celebration of being together and that only happens when we are generous with our blessings.

Pray

Lord, the demands of faith can be overwhelming but, still, I am called to follow. May I choose to be an instrument of your love. Amen.

Go

God is love, it’s true.
And to follow God is to grow in love.

Watch along the path of your life today
For opportunities to yield to love.
To give in;
To place yourself at risk
For that human and most divine virtue,
The most demanding of all.
