The one who enters in the Lord’s name is blessed; we bless all of you from the Lord’s house. The Lord is God! He has shined a light on us! So lead the festival offering with ropes all the way to the horns of the altar. You are my God—I will give thanks to you! You are my God—I will lift you up high! Give thanks to the Lord because he is good, because his faithful love lasts forever.

We end as we began: “God’s faithful love lasts forever!”

We now understand that this powerful affirmation really emerges out of relationship. The Psalmist writes: “You are my God – I will give thanks to you! You are my God – I will lift you high!” When we use the word “my” it is often used in relationship to something or someone: my mother, my father, my girlfriend, my boyfriend, my books, my clothes, etc. For the Psalmist, God is not distant. God is near. God is not a stranger but someone the Psalmist is close to. And when we fully read this Psalm it is clear the writer knows God well! It is out of that relationship that the Psalmist can declare “You are my God!”

As we travel this Lenten journey, true joy will come when we choose to commit to strengthening our relationship with God, remembering what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. Rejoice and celebrate because God keeps on making a way… over and over again! God’s faithful love lasts forever!

God, thank you for being my God! You keep on making a way for me over and over again, and it started by giving me Jesus! I am so grateful that your faithful love lasts forever! Amen.
