Ordinary Time

Pause

Things are not always clear to us.

If we slow down, will it help us to see more clearly?

How can we allow Jesus to be revealed to us today?

Listen

They got up right then and returned to Jerusalem. They found the eleven and their companions gathered together. They were saying to each other, “The Lord really has risen! He appeared to Simon!” Then the two disciples described what had happened along the road and how Jesus was made known to them as he broke the bread.

Luke 24:33-35

Think

Go and tell! This is what my imagination hears ringing through the hearts of the disciples. They “got up right then and returned to Jerusalem.” It is after dinner. They have been traveling all day. It is time to rest.

And yet they turn around and head back to Jerusalem right then! What must have been on their hearts to push them to make that journey after such a long day? The desire to share the Good News of seeing Jesus inspires them to go and tell the others.

And they do. They share the Good News. They share every detail of their encounter. They allow Jesus to be revealed to the other disciples, their friends, who have been grieving too.
