Ordinary Time

Pause

Things are not always clear to us.

If we slow down, will it help us to see more clearly?

How can we allow Jesus to be revealed to us today?

Listen

I love the Lord because he hears my requests for mercy. I’ll call out to him as long as I live, because he listens closely to me. Death’s ropes bound me; the distress of the grave found me— I came face-to-face with trouble and grief. So I called on the Lord’s name: “Lord, please save me!”

Psalm 116:1-4

Think

The very first line of this psalm is so beautiful, “I love the Lord because he hears my requests for mercy.” It doesn’t say that God fixes everything. It says that God hears us. God is with us through all of our pain. God is with us when we are scared. God is with us when we are worried. Through every problem, through every challenge; God is there.

The psalmist says: God hears us when we cry out, when we request mercy, when we call on God’s name. How beautiful to think about the fact that we are never alone in our fear and troubles.

God hears us when we cry out to God. God is with us when we are in pain.
