Ordinary Time

Pause

Our faith leads us to pause and spend time with God.

Our faith also leads us to go and do something:

To seek justice and peace and show mercy and grace.

Listen

So then, with endurance, let’s also run the race that is laid out in front of us, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us. Let’s throw off any extra baggage, get rid of the sin that trips us up, and fix our eyes on Jesus, faith’s pioneer and perfecter.

Hebrews 12:1-2a

Think

I usually like to work alone because I feel more focused. But honestly, even though working with others has its complications, it is very rewarding! One time, I had to deliver a presentation. It was kind of hard because of all the information I had to gather. It was taking me forever. Then a friend noticed my frustration and offered help. I doubted if they could help me, and I thought about it more than usual before finally saying yes. Eventually, I accepted their offer, and everything flowed smoothly!

Sometimes in our faith, we become so individualized that we forget this is a relay race. This relay can also turn into a rely race, where we trust in God and others to help us fix our eyes on Jesus. When this happens, we are better and become more intentional. When we learn to rely on each other, we can help each other and move forward better, not faster.

Question to Ponder:

Who can you rely on to move better toward God’s love?

Pray

God, help me see and work with people who can help me be better, love more, and do more justice. Amen.

Go

Let’s go, vamos

Let’s run God’s race

With love and action

Come on, let’s go: ¡Vamos!
