Ordinary Time
We are never so low that our Lord cannot raise us up.
Since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, this is the reason that I don’t stop giving thanks to God for you when I remember you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation that makes God known to you.
Ephesians 1:15-17
Life is such a gift. Even if we rise from our sleep to less than perfect circumstances, we are still given the gift of a new day and fresh start every morning. And how many gifts God gives us within each day! We are truly blessed by a God who loves us more than we can fathom.
St. Paul describes another blessed gift to the Church at Ephesus; in fact, he prays that they receive it: “a spirit of wisdom and revelation that makes God known to you” (v. 17). What a tremendous blessing that would be! And while it may seem like we need someone like Paul to pray for us to receive such a spirit and blessing, we ourselves can turn to God in prayer and ask to be filled with such a spirit today. Coming in God’s time and not our own, these blessings will be fulfilled because our Lord is faithful. Arising like the sun over a new day, Christ lights the way.

Thank you, Lord, for this new day and for the opportunity to come to you in prayer.
Please bless me with what I need to serve and to love you.
Amen.
I lift up my eyes to the hills—
from where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1-2 (NRSV)
