Listen

When you call me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me.

I was a junior in high school, and my family moved from Knoxville, TN to Royal Oak, MI (Detroit), and it was hard. I spent many afternoons on the floor of my room crying, praying to God, begging for it all to get easier.

Often during our struggles, it is difficult to see God walking alongside us… but it is when we look back that we see the evidence of God in our lives. Looking back, I can see God led my family to a wonderful church that opened up my life in so many ways. God was there. God listened to my prayers.

As you head into a new school year, you too may be filled with uncertainty. This is a normal feeling – potentially there is a lot of newness in your life right now.
Give your worry and stress to God. Trust that God is listening, and trust that you’ll see the hand of God in your life as you navigate these days.

God of comfort, be with me today. Thank you for listening to me and walking all of my days with me. Thank you for not leaving me to walk this school year alone. Amen.
