Back to School
When I go back to school everyone asks a lot of questions. Then, after about a week, when I’ve answered everything, we get back to normal.

I will fulfill my promises to you, God. I will present thanksgiving offerings to you because you have saved my life from death, saved my feet from stumbling so that I can walk before God in the light of life.
Psalm 56:12-13
Over the past year and a half, I’ve tried to pay attention more to the goodness around me. There was so much that has been hard and awful, from sickness to lives altered by the pandemic and more. Paying attention to the goodness felt like a way to focus on the positive instead of the negative.
What if you spent the school year paying attention to the goodness around you and thanking God for it? Potentially the year will quickly become mundane and you will be bogged down with projects, tests, and quizzes. However, what is good? Is one teacher fun? Is there a new friend that you look forward to seeing? What else? When we pay attention to the goodness that is around we walk in the light of life with God, as this passage expresses. When we pay attention to the goodness it also changes our attitudes and we are more freely able to offer the love of God to those we encounter.

Bird singing. Sunshine. Cool breezes. Friends. Hugs from loved ones. God, thank you for all the goodness in this world. Help me to see it this day. Amen.
Go into this world confidently.
Go into this world free from fear.
Go into this world full of peace.
Go into this world with kindness.
Go knowing whatever normal is for you, God loves you. God is with you.
Go.
