Ordinary Time

Pause

Spirit of the Living God, make us one.

Spirit of the Living God, give us hope.

Spirit of the Living God, show us grace.

Spirit of the Living God, be with us now.

Listen

As a result, we aren’t supposed to be infants any longer who can be tossed and blown around by every wind that comes from teaching with deceitful scheming and the tricks people play to deliberately mislead others. Instead, by speaking the truth with love, let’s grow in every way into Christ, who is the head. The whole body grows from him, as it is joined and held together by all the supporting ligaments. The body makes itself grow in that it builds itself up with love as each one does its part.

Ephesians 4:14-16

Think

If you have ever had a broken bone, you know the pain that it causes your body and the adjustments you have to make to keep living your daily life. A broken pinky may not cause too much damage, but if you break multiple fingers or even your entire hand, you may not be able to do a lot of your normal tasks during the day.

The body needs all of its parts to fully function in the way it is intended to. Similarly, the body of Christ needs each part to work together to fully function in the way it is intended to, to glorify God and speak truth in love.

You are a part of that body, and you are needed to love others the way that Christ does, and so is every person around you. Therefore, it is important for each of us to seek truth from God so that the body of Christ can be united and function well together.

Pray

God, may I speak truth in love found only through Christ. Remind me of my function and purpose in the body of Christ today. Amen.

Go

Even while we are apart, we are still united in Christ Jesus.

Go today, reaching out to those you can, showing grace to those you encounter.

Go today, with hope in a neighbor, faith in a friend, and love for a stranger.

Go today, a member of the body of Christ, in which we are called to Be One.
