Ordinary Time

Pause

Time spent together is often the best gift we can give. Take a moment to express gratefulness for those who have given you the gift of presence.

Listen

I will thank you, Lord, with all my heart; I will talk about all your wonderful acts. I will celebrate and rejoice in you; I will sing praises to your name, Most High.

Psalm 9:1-2

Think

“Is there any good news?” I hear that occasionally at home these days when we watch the network television news. I must admit, it is easy to read the headlines and slip away into despair. Is there any good news?

For the Christian, that is a loaded question. Could it be that our “good news” needs to regain its goodness? Could it be that we have simply quit looking for the action of God around us?

When I read today’s passage and I read, “I will talk about all your wonderful acts,” I am reminded that God doesn’t stop working around us. We just become blind to God. Maybe we need to tell about what God is doing to remind ourselves and others that the “good news” is good! God is working in the world around us!

Pray

God of Action, open my eyes to how you are working around me. Forgive me for letting my own discouragement and busyness distract me from what you are doing in the world. Whether alone or together with others, put the words of praise in my mouth that restore goodness to the “good news” and to the world today. Amen.

Go

To whom might you give the gift of time and presence today?

Go with the assurance of God’s presence, acceptance, and desire to be together with you and those around you.

Go in peace!
