Journey to the Cross

Pause

As Christ breaks bread, and bids us share,

each proud division ends.

The love that made us, makes us one,

and strangers now are friends.

“I Come with Joy” (Episcopal Hymnal 1982)

Listen

The community of believers was one in heart and mind. None of them would say, “This is mine!” about any of their possessions, but held everything in common. The apostles continued to bear powerful witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and an abundance of grace was at work among them all.

Acts 4:32-33

Think

Whether you’re a player on a sports team, member of your youth group, beginning summer camp, going to a new school, starting your first job, or commencing a new chapter of your life, you are with others. It’s important to trust those people and the process and journey on which you are now embarking. It’s okay to be vulnerable. We can’t see the future or where our journey will take us, but we can have faith to trust the process.

We need to show up and dedicate ourselves to the people around us as we are all here with something in common. Like the apostles, we can be together “in heart and mind” and work to see the bigger picture. God gives all of us courage, bravery, love, and calmness to begin whatever is ahead on our path.

Question to Ponder:

Today, who can you lean on for support, and who might need your support?

Pray

Dear God, thank you for bringing me together with others to be a team and a community. Let me continue to experience an abundance of grace as I trust in others and share all that is good.

Amen.

Go

Together met, together bound

by all that God has done,

we’ll go with joy, to give the world

the love that makes us one.
