Ordinary Time
Inhale: God calls me into connection.
Exhale: I am surely not alone.
From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God’s will, and Timothy our brother.
To the holy and faithful brothers and sisters in Christ in Colossae.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father.
We always give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you. We’ve done this since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all God’s people.
Colossians 1:1-4
“I give thanks to God for you.” That’s a powerful statement, right? To hear another say “I am grateful to the Creator of the Universe for your very existence.”
It’s been amazing to see in recent years the ways the larger culture has embraced the importance of gratitude. I’ve noticed gratitude journals pop up in bookstores. Friends have shared that they have a daily ritual of gratitude. When we speak (or write down) things we are grateful for, it can bring us joy and even raise our spirits. It’s really quite incredible!
Sometimes these gratitude practices leave out the other party though… I can say out loud “I am grateful for my friend Kelly.” And the thought alone brings joy to my heart. But how often do I actually go and say, “Kelly, I’m so grateful for you”?
Take a moment to let someone come to mind. Thank God for them. Now, go tell them how grateful you are to God that they exist, that they play an important role in your life.

Thank you, God, for __________.
May gratitude spill out from my heart for the beautiful gifts and relationships you have placed in my life.
May gratitude overflow into the ways I act and speak today.
Amen.
In the midst of this great BIG world, may you be assured that you are seen.
You matter.
In the great big crowd, you are not insignificant but instead you are an integral part of the beautiful mosaic.
You are called to embrace the community around you.
The community is ready for YOU.
