Now I’m happy to be suffering for you. I’m completing what is missing from Christ’s sufferings with my own body. I’m doing this for the sake of his body, which is the church. I became a servant of the church by God’s commission, which was given to me for you, in order to complete God’s word. I’m completing it with a secret plan that has been hidden for ages and generations but which has now been revealed to his holy people. God wanted to make the glorious riches of this secret plan known among the Gentiles, which is Christ living in you, the hope of glory. This is what we preach as we warn and teach every person with all wisdom so that we might present each one mature in Christ.

Think

Here is another of those Big God ideas. Actually, it’s more of an ideal made real.

The message celebrated and shared by Christ-followers, that the glory of God is known and experienced in and among us, is available for everyone. No exceptions. No limitations. No fine print either.

There are no geographic boundaries to this message of good news and its results. No limits imposed by race, gender, national origin, favorite color, or food preference. Nothing and in no way.

It’s the kind of big idea that can make a person’s brain hurt. We seem determined sometimes to limit who is in and who is out, as though our very existence depended on it. We can act like this even when we are fully aware that in fact our limitations on others damages us. It makes us smaller.

Thanks be to our Big God for big ideas that are dependent on God alone.

God, thank you for being bigger than me, bigger than any idea I have, bigger than anything I do.

Help me to put no limits in my mind on what you do and with whom you do it.

Amen.
