Ordinary Time

Pause

Loving God, open my eyes, ears, heart, and mind that I may more fully understand who you are and who you have created me to be.

Listen

Whoever speaks should do so as those who speak God’s word. Whoever serves should do so from the strength that God furnishes. Do this so that in everything God may be honored through Jesus Christ. To him be honor and power forever and always. Amen.

1 Peter 4:11

Think

Have you ever been at home during a power outage? Suddenly the house is dark and eerily quiet. Computers, air conditioners, microwaves, and other things that make life comfortable and easier are still in place, yet there is no power to use them.

God has given each of us gifts — unique ways that we can love, welcome, and serve our world. We are born ready to make a big impact! But having gifts to serve isn’t enough; we need the power to use our gifts. 1 Peter 4:11 reminds us that the power we need to use the gifts we have comes from God.

In what ways can we connect with God today? Spending time each day reading Scripture and praying is a great way to connect with God. How about connecting with God through a church community, spending time with friends who are on the same journey of following Jesus, or connecting with God through nature? As we connect with God each day, we are empowered for the work God has gifted us to do!
