Journey to the Cross

Pause

Walking with God every day is the pathway to blessing.

Listen

Therefore, God highly honored him and gave him a name above all names, so that at the name of Jesus everyone in heaven, on earth, and under the earth might bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11

Think

There are places in the world where to be a Christian is challenging. As a senior in college, I attended a university in Cairo, Egypt. Finding people who worshipped Christ was difficult. Many times, I was sad, especially on Sunday mornings. As this was many years ago, Christianity has since spread throughout Egypt. I am thankful that I did not condemn my Egyptian neighbors but tried to be a witness for Christ in my lifestyle. Since I was living among people of the Islamic faith, it was important for me to pay attention to the way I dressed, walked, and talked as a young woman.

As I was preparing to leave Cairo, my Muslim friends said to me, “We did not see you acting unseemly as many American students do here. You have honored God in your everyday life.” It was a blessing to me to at least try to honor God through Christ Jesus, the name above all other names.

Question to Ponder:

How can we exalt Christ in our everyday lives so that others may see, believe, and follow him?

Pray

Jesus, I love your name for it is the name above all other names. Help me to humbly bow before you all the days of my life, for you are exalted, your name is exalted in heaven and on earth. For those who have not found you yet, may they see your glory in the earth and bow down too. Amen.

Go

As you go, remember that whether you are on top of the world or in a low place, continue to walk with God. Step by step your path will be clear. So go in peace, knowing that whatever you face, God is with you!
