Journey to the Cross

Pause

Walking with God every day is the pathway to blessing.

Listen

I thank you because you answered me, because you were my saving help. The stone rejected by the builders is now the main foundation stone! This has happened because of the Lord; it is astounding in our sight! This is the day the Lord acted; we will rejoice and celebrate in it!

Psalm 118:21-24

Think

“The stone rejected by the builders is now the main foundation stone.” The rejected one becoming the solid and stable one is good news for people who feel on the outs. Although this may sound unbelievable in our busy world, loneliness is a major public health problem. People are feeling inwardly on the outs despite being busy and part of groups every day. Before the crucifixion, Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane alone praying, yet his disciples were with him. That does not sound right. Is it really possible to be in the group physically yet feel disconnected?

I always felt like the odd one in my family. I was the only girl of four children. I took care of my brothers since the age of six years old because of the struggles of my mom. For me, the one the family rejected became the cornerstone. I was determined to praise God for God had become my salvation. For this reason, I sing.

Question to Ponder:

Do you think that singing songs of salvation helps in coping with the struggles of life?

Pray

Praise to my God! I lift your name on high for you are worthy to be praised! Thank you for salvation through faith in Jesus, the chief cornerstone that the builders rejected. When I feel on the outs, may your Spirit nudge me as a reminder that I am yours and you are mine. Amen.

Go

As you go, remember that whether you are on top of the world or in a low place, continue to walk with God. Step by step your path will be clear. So go in peace, knowing that whatever you face, God is with you!
