Back to School

Pause

Going Back2School this year will be different, even a little scary. So make space for God today.

Just like packing your backpack for school, carve out some time each day to be filled with God’s presence.

Breathe in… breathe out… Be still, knowing that you are God’s beloved.

Listen

What of the wisdom from above? First, it is pure, and then peaceful, gentle, obedient, filled with mercy and good actions, fair, and genuine. Those who make peace sow the seeds of justice by their peaceful acts.

James 3:17-18

Think

God’s wisdom is amazing! God is the giver of love, peace, mercy, and justice. It is God who knows how to heal the wounds of injustice. It is God who offers perfect love to an imperfect world.

Yet, you look around and see so much injustice in this world. Where is God’s wisdom?!

God’s wisdom is breathing life into people like you and me, who sow the seeds of justice with peaceful acts. When you speak up for the kid who is being made fun of at lunch, when you go to a local protest seeking justice for Black lives, when you don’t stay silent when you notice sexist language being used, when you offer words of hope to a friend in despair, when you say a kind word to the refugee who just moved to your school – it is in these moments that you sow the seeds of justice that come from God.

In God’s amazing wisdom, God has given you the job of sharing love and justice with your world. God chooses you as a partner in this work. Read that again – God chooses you!

Pray

God, thank you asking me to be your partner. Thank you for sharing your wisdom in me. Help me to use this wisdom to love others as you love me. Amen.
