Following the Star
The unique message of the Gospel is that God wanted to
walk with us, eat with us, hurt with us, weep with us, and save us.
God came for us in human form and knows exactly what kind of forgiving, freeing, healing love we need.
But when the fulfillment of the time came, God sent his Son, born through a woman, and born under the Law. This was so he could redeem those under the Law so that we could be adopted. Because you are sons and daughters, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, âAbba, Father!â Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a son or daughter, and if you are his child, then you are also an heir through God.
Galatians 4:4-7
When you hear the word âsalvationâ what do you think of? The Salvation Army? Getting saved into heaven? Being baptized? Receiving forgiveness? âSavingâ can mean different things to different people. In this letter from the Apostle Paul to the new Christians at Galatia, the crux of the good news is this: you are adopted into the family of God! Not a stranger, not a church member, not just part of a religion, but an actual son or daughter of the Most High, adopted as Godâs child. You can even go to God with the cry of a child: âAbba, Father!â and trust that God hears you and cares for you. You are not a servant nor a slave, but one who inherits the kingdom of heaven. You donât have to work to earn Godâs love or approval â you are already loved and treasured!

Question to ponder:
What times in your life are you really glad to have God as your parent? What does it mean to you to be in Godâs family?
God, sometimes I need to know that youâre not some remote authority figure or taskmaster.
Youâre not a superhero in the sky or the police of heaven.
You are actually my Divine Parent. You really see me and hear me and get me, just as I am.
Youâre not waiting for me to prove that Iâm worthy of your love. You already love me.
Thank you, God.
Amen.
Today, pay attention to the little signs of Christâs saving work in your life.
