Ordinary Time

Pause

We are never alone. Our lives are knit together with those around us. What we do has the power to affect others. And God is present and active in our relationships and in our very being.

God is with you. Breathe deep the reality of God’s presence. Remember. Realize. God is with you.

Listen

The Lord your God will raise up a prophet like me from your community, from your fellow Israelites. He’s the one you must listen to. That’s exactly what you requested from the Lord your God at Horeb, on the day of the assembly, when you said, “I can’t listen to the Lord my God’s voice anymore or look at this great fire any longer. I don’t want to die!”

Deuteronomy 18:15-16

Think

Sometimes the idea of spending time with God can be, well if we are telling the truth, tiresome or on the other hand overwhelming. There can be so much we are supposed to do; there’s the “right way” to pray or do Bible study — it just keeps us from doing anything at all. Or the reverse may also be true. Prayer just seems boring, and we may find ourselves asking, “What is the point anyway?”.

Today God hears from the people that they just can’t take listening to God’s voice anymore. They need help; they need a change. Sometimes what we need in our life with God is a change, sometimes we need help. Today take some time to think about who has and who could help you in your life with God, because we all need a little help now and again.

Pray

God, thank you that I don’t have to do faith alone. Thank you that it is not all about me and that I have people who can help me. Help me to be open to what others have to offer. Amen.
