Journey to the Cross
We can connect with God through our breathing.
Slowly breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Do this a few times.
God is with you.
Our citizenship is in heaven. We look forward to a savior that comes from there—the Lord Jesus Christ. He will transform our humble bodies so that they are like his glorious body, by the power that also makes him able to subject all things to himself.
Philippians 3:20-21
Once upon a time there was a man named Jesus. He had parents, family, and friends. He ate food, he walked on the earth, he slept in a bed. He was known to be kind and wise. Sometimes he argued with people. He flipped a table once! He was like us.
After he was crucified, he ascended and rose into heaven. That’s very different. But we are taught that we will be like that one day – transformed in Christ. Just like Jesus, we are both a part of this world, and “our citizenship is in heaven.” And, just like Jesus, we are called to live in this world in ways that reflect heaven. Our transformation in Christ isn’t just one day in the future. We are being transformed each day as we seek to follow the ways of Jesus. There are things we can do each day to bring heaven and earth a little closer together through our words and actions and care.

Question to Ponder:
What might you do today to bring heaven and earth a little closer?
Dear Jesus, Lord and Savior, you walked among us on earth, and you taught us what it means to be a beloved child of God. You showed us by your example what it looks like to be a citizen of heaven. Help me with every breath to be a little more like you, each day. Amen.
Trust can take a long time to build. Where do you want to put your trust today?
