Some things are just hard to know, and when dealing with mystery, it's easy to get lost in the questions.

God is mystery; we will never completely understand.

But there are times, sometimes only moments, when we see God better than we have before.

Such a moment may occur for us at any time - even in the moments just ahead of you.

Listen

You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot.

Matthew 5:13

Think

Have you ever participated in a church-wide day of missions in your community? Some churches call it “Operation Inasmuch” or “Agents of Grace” and those names are great; but I really loved the name our church used.

On a bright Saturday each spring, church members came out for Salt Shaker Saturday. Young and old planted flowers at schools, did home repairs, visited nursing homes, and made gifts for people in hospitals. People always came back with smiles and laughter and stories of someone asking, “Why are you doing this?”

We pour God’s love into the world to make it different and better, and to remind us of our purpose in life. The Message says it wonderfully: “You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth.”

How will you add God-flavor to someone’s life today?

Pray

Gourmet God, help me to be a taste of heaven to the people I meet today. Amen.

Go

God sent Christ into the world,
Giving life abundant and free.
God sends us like Christ before us
Sharing love with all those in need.

Shine your light into the darkness
So the lost can finally say:
Never ceasing, life increasing,
Christ, our life, our truth, our way!
